Work Lighting NZ

Work Lighting for NZ Trades

The job doesn't wait for good light. A phone torch balanced on a shelf, or wedged under your chin while you trace a fault, isn't a fix. It's a workaround, and it usually fails right when it is needed most.

This is the Ledlenser work range: headlamps, torches, area lights and intrinsically safe lighting built for people who need both hands free and light that won't let them down. Electricians, builders, mechanics, plumbers and farmers all put this gear through the same test.

Work headlamps

Hands-free lighting for panels, ceiling cavities, engine bays, docking pens, and anywhere else you need to see and work at the same time. High CRI (colour rendering index) models make it easier to check stock condition and fluids, or tell wiring colours apart under artificial light rather than guessing under a flat white beam.

Work torches

For the jobs a headlamp can't reach. Pointing into a conduit, checking underneath a vehicle, or lighting up the back of a trailer or ute deck after dark. A strong work torch backs up a headlamp rather than replacing it.

Area lights

When one beam isn't enough, and the whole space needs light. Area lights are built for workshops, sheds and job sites where several people are working at once, so nobody's left sharing a single torch.

Intrinsically safe lighting

For anyone working around fuel storage, gas plants, chemical processing or any site with a flammable atmosphere, a generic light isn't appropriate. Intrinsically safe lighting is certified under ATEX and IECEx standards and built so it can't produce a spark or overheat.

Safety

An intrinsically safe light if your site requires one, no exceptions

Keep it charged rather than reaching for it flat. A work light with no charge left is no better than the phone torch it's meant to replace.

Frequently asked questions

What's the best headlamp for tradies and farmers in NZ?

Look for high CRI, long runtime and an IP rating suited to outdoor or wet conditions. A rechargeable model with a glove-friendly switch handles most trade and farm use well.

Do I need an intrinsically safe light for my job?

If your site has flammable gases, vapours or dust present, yes. Standard torches and headlamps aren't rated for that environment, and intrinsically safe lighting is non-negotiable in those zones.

What does CRI mean and why does it matter for work lighting?

CRI (colour rendering index) measures how accurately a light shows true colour. A higher CRI makes it easier to tell wiring, fluids or materials apart rather than seeing everything under the same flat tone.

Are Ledlenser work lights waterproof for outdoor and shed use?

Most work models carry an IP rating for water and dust resistance, so check the individual product spec for the exact rating before using one in wet or exposed conditions. An IP rating of 6 or more, e.g. IPX6 is considered waterproof.

What's the difference between a work headlamp and an area light?

A headlamp is for hands-free, close-focus tasks like panels or engine bays. An area light illuminates a whole space, making it a suitable choice for workshops, sheds or sites where more than one person needs to see.
